Thirty years go we set out to serve the freshest coffee available, roasted and delivered daily so you can experience the best tasting coffees from around the world.

Back then, the coffee landscape was a simple offering, espresso and cappuccino with your choice of black or full cream milk, nothing else.

So much has changed since then; taste profiles, dietary needs, brewing methods and of course how and where we all enjoy our daily ritual.

For a long time Merlo wouldn’t entertain the thought of capsule coffee as it never delivered against our high expectations of quality over format.

But we persisted in the search and development of a better tasting capsule experience, trialling and trialling and trialling again, until we finally cracked it!

Now, with three decades of coffee roasting experience behind us, we are proud to offer the best tasting coffee capsules on the market.

Coffee is an artform. An intimate knowledge balancing science, trial, error, persistence, and patience.

With three decades of coffee roasting experience, Merlo re-engineered our signature roasting philosophy to develop our new specialty coffee capsules.

Mastering the art of Merlo coffee still begins with a curation of specialty coffee beans hand-selected from all over the world, evaluated by our licenced Q-Grader to meet the strictest standards of excellence -aroma, flavour, body, acidity, aftertaste, and free from any defects.

Our artisan roasters then painstakingly fine tuned the roasting profile to accommodate the specifics of our capsule technology, balancing grind size, water ratios and extraction times to deliver against our high quality standards.

We then apply multi-stage precision grinding, a sophisticated de-gassing and oxygen modified encapsulation process, and utilise recyclable aluminium capsules and seven layer micro-foiling to extract and preserve Merlo’s signature flavour, and smooth lingering finish.

All our capsules are made from 100% recyclable aluminum. After use simply remove from capsule machine and:

• pierce the film
• tip used coffee grinds into your compost
• then pop empty capsule into your standard Council recycling bin.
