With over 1,000 wholesale customers around Australia, there's never a quiet day for the Merlo Sales team who are in charge of making sure that every customer is set up for success.

Troy Ryan

Role: Head of Sales 

Time with Merlo: 13 years

What you love about the coffee industry: Meeting dynamic new people and making sure that their businesses are run really well. 

Biggest piece of advice for café owners: Make sure you love what you do, focus on customer service and serve a good product. 

Reuben Aiono

Role: Business Development Manager

Time with Merlo: 11 years

What you love about the coffee industry: It's forever changing, vibrant and hip, and it's a great environment to be around. 

What changes have you seen in recent years: The machinery and the quality of coffee beans across the board has gone up a level. 

Biggest piece of advice for café owners: Keep things simple. People just want good, consistent coffee fast and with good customer service. 

 

Lauren Jackson

Role: Senior Account Manager

Time with Merlo: 8 years

What you love about the coffee industry: The Australian coffee culture. It's strong and ever changing but there are consistent themes. As someone who loves coffee it's a bonus to work in the industry. 

What changes have you seen in recent years: With the pandemic everything is ever changing. A lot of customers have had to adapt quite a lot to what's going on. 

Biggest piece of advice for café owners: Do what you love. If you love drinking coffee, focus on your passion and don't overthink it.

Role: NSW Territory Manager

Time with Merlo: 10 years

What you love about the coffee industry: It's always changing. From the way the machinery has changed, the way the coffee is made, alternative brew methods...it's going to be really exciting to see the changes in the coming years. 

What changes have you seen in recent years: We have seen coffee being made in different establishments. From the local barbershop, to clothing stores. Drive thru coffee is starting to be really popular. Quality coffee can be found in a lot more different places. 

Biggest piece of advice for café owners: Keep things simple. Invest in good staff and know what your product is and execute that the best you can.
